Williamson: 'Too Many Changes - No Stability'

Mike Williamson says Newcastle's performance against Reading at the Madejski Stadiumwas was "poor" to say the least.

Mike Williamson: “It says a lot about the spirit in the camp to come back like that again.

“We’re just disappointed with our performance.

"We’re a better team than that, but we didn’t really impose ourselves on the game. Credit to Reading – they battled and had a lot of energy, it’s a difficult place to come.

“Maybe it’s just not quite clicking at the moment for some reason.

"It’s difficult when you have a lot of games.

"We’ve had five games in the last ten or 12 days or so. That’s difficult. I’m sure it will come.

"We’ve got a really honest group of lads and they’re all working hard. It’s just a matter of time before we start gelling.

“The injuries definitely don’t help. We’ve had to change things around a lot recently and that’s never ideal.

"We’ve got a strong squad, and the players that have come in have done well.

“They’ve staked their claim for a starting position, and that’s why the gaffer has the players he has.

"We’ve got so many games coming and they’re still coming thick and fast. It’s about using the squad effectively, but you want stability if you can.”
