Captain Fabricio Coloccini has been linked with a move back to Argentina, more for family reasons than anything else, and there is expected to be significant interest in Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa, even though both players have pledged their future to the club.
Ben Arfa looks key to Andy Carroll's return, with Liverpool willing to do "a trade".
Spurs want Cabaye, and rumour has it the move to London would interest him, but he would have been more tempted had Tottenham made it into the Champions League.
This is a massive season for players wanting to head to Brazil for the World Cup, and one player expected to stay - despite a lot of interest from around Europe - is Tim Krul.
He needs first team football, and that will be guaranteed at Newcastle. Not so at Juventus or Arsenal, who have tracked him.
Alan Pardew: "We're one of those clubs where we're liable to lose one of our great players to a Champions League team through finance and sometimes the will of the player.
"You can't keep a player who doesn't want to stay.
"Having said that, it's going to be very difficult for any club to get a player out of here unless it's a serious or big bid."
