Will Ashley Consider Appointing Martin O'Neill?

Martin O'Neill wants to return to management after settling his dispute with Aston Villa ... and Mike Ashley is his No 1 fan. We were shell-shocked when the Toon owner gave Chris Hughton the chop this season and appointed Alan Pardew (after the pair crossed paths in a casino). So ... with £35m available from the sale of Andy Carroll (and we hear Ashley would add another £20m if he had full confidence in the manager) ... is Ashley considering bringing in Martin O'Neill? Pardew was extremely unhappy with the sale of Carroll, after the former West Ham boss told the football world "he is going nowhere ... trust me on that one!" And today, after Pardew had tried to coax Joey Barton to sign a new deal, we believe the former Manchester City star will NOT be offered a new deal. Martin O'Neill: "It has taken a long time to deal with this matter but I am pleased that all issues have now been amicably finalised. "I am very proud to have managed Aston Villa and I wish the club all the best for the future. "I am now looking forward to the future and getting back into football management."
