Why Is Pardew Still To Win Over The Fans?

Alan Pardew picked up a second managerial award in just six days last night - and then admitted he still felt his position at Newcastle was "vulnerable".

Pardew’s efforts were recognised by the LMA yesterday when he was awarded an engraved crystal football as reward for his side’s performance at Old Trafford.

It will no doubt be displayed proudly alongside the Barclays Manager of the Month award for November.

Alan Pardew : “I have been here three years.

“I have been vulnerable from day one and I am still vulnerable today.

“That is managerial careers, we are very vulnerable.

“I always felt it was not so much a footballing decision – and certainly the fans there were brilliant with me and the players were all with me, so I had no issues with that.

“It was a decision which was made above me and there was nothing I could do about it.

“I never lost my confidence over that.

“My team deserves credit – 41 years is a long time not to win here and the players were conscious of it.

“What pleased me most was our retention of the ball.

“It was a fantastic result earning a well-deserved award.”
