Who Needs Given?

Ole Soderberg is ready for Stamford Bridge ... if called upon. He is not daunted at the prospect of deputising for Tim Krul at Stamford Bridge against Double winners Chelsea. The 20-year-old Swede is delighted Chris Hughton has no interest in bringing back Shay Given to St James' Park. Ole Soderberg: “It’s something I’m looking forward to, it will be great for me and, if anything, it’s an honour even to be on the bench for Newcastle United. “To get to be a substitute in the Carling Cup or the Premier League is a great achievement for a young keeper. “I’m not too daunted because I’ve been on the bench before in Carling Cup ties so it’s not a big problem for me. I’m hoping for the best in the next few weeks. “Paul Barron is great to us and he always makes sure we’re ready for the big occasion. He works us really hard in training, but we all enjoy the sessions. I like to work hard in training and try to improve each day. Paul has helped me out a lot since I have been at the club.” Peter Beardsley: “Ole is a top lad and if we’re strong in any department at this club it’s the goalkeeping department. Paul Barron does an excellent job.”
