The French midfielder was the subject of reports in Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport yesterday claiming that the Toon star is wanted by his former Lille boss, Rudi Garcia.Cabaye opted out of Newcastle’s first two games of the season after the club received a bid of around £11million from Arsenal.And while the bid was swiftly rejected, there was no follow-up offer.Whether Cabaye would swap the Premier League for the less fashionable Serie A remains to be seen.Yet reports today link Liverpool with a move in January.
