'Wally With The Brolly' Turns Down Newcastle

Steve McClaren has turned down the chance to return to football with Australian League side Newcastle Jets.

McClaren walked out on Nottingham Forest last week, after a shocking start to the season.

As usual ... he blamed everybody at the City Ground for the failings ... everybody apart from himself.

I'm sure a lot of Forest (and England) fans would like to see him leg it to the far side of the world.

Australian newspaper The Newcastle Herald reported that McClaren was "among a number of high-profile overseas coaches who have expressed an interest in the vacant position" but that is far from the truth.

The Jets are reported to have received around 60 inquiries or applications for the post but, although there was an email from a representative of McClaren, apparently it was nothing more than an agent testing the water.

McClaren is seeking a high-profile club to rebuild his career and the source added: "With all due respect to Australian football, Steve is not quite ready for semi-retirement!"

McClaren resigned as Forest boss earlier this month after just 112 days in charge with the club fourth from bottom in the Championship.
