Unlucky 13 For Carver

Toon assistant manager John Carver joined Cardiff after failing to make a first-team breakthrough at St James's Park.

However, just 13 games into his career at Ninian Park he suffered the injury that would ultimately end his playing career.

John Carver: “I had a good time there.

“Unfortunately, it was where my career ended because of injury.

“I went there as a 20-year-old, and loved it. The people were great, and the fans were fantastic.

“At the old stadium, Ninian Park, there was a great atmosphere when there was a good crowd.

“I’ve been back with Plymouth and Leeds, but this will be my first time with Newcastle.

“I’ve still got some friends down there, and it’ll be good to see them.”
