The new No 9 has what it takes to become a Toon legend, but Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is concerned the 26-year-old is cramming too much into 2012.
Having already played in the African Cup of Nation in January; signed for Newcastle the same month (and helped them to 5th place in the Premiership); the striker is set for a punishing summer.
Cisse, a revelation for United this season, has been called up by Senegal for World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Uganda early next month.
They play Liberia in Dakar on June 2, and Uganda in Kampala a week later.
And the 26-year-old is expected to be involved in his country’s Olympic football campaign, which could see him on international duty from late July to August 11.
Cisse: “I will now go to play for my national team.
“After that, I will rest ahead of next season.
“I don’t know about the Olympics. I will play in the World Cup qualifiers, and after that, I don’t know.
“It’s been an extraordinary thing for me joining Newcastle – it’s been four extraordinary months.
“I’m content with what I have achieved. My objective is to do even better next season.”
The president of Senegal’s football federation, Augustin Senghor, is adamant that Cisse and his United colleague Demba Ba will be considered for the two over-age spots in his country’s Under-23 Qlympic squad.
Augustin Senghor: “If we can strengthen our young team with famous players from great championships like the Premier League, we should.
“We need top scorers like Papiss Cisse. If you leave players like that at home, it is a big mistake.”
