Toon Stars On International Duty

Since their run of five Premier League matches unchanged, the Magpies have hit a difficult period with injuries.

Cheick Tioté (pictured right) missed the games against Stoke City and Everton with a knee injury, and Yohan Cabaye came off against the Toffees with a groin strain.

That appears to have healed more quickly than expected as he was an unused substitute in France’s 1-0 friendly win over the United States on Friday.

Cabaye may get a run-out in tomorrow’s Paris friendly against Belgium.

Demba Ba played in Senegal’s 4-1 victory over Guinea and can expect to be in the side which faces Ivory Coast in another friendly tomorrow.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul will be hoping to get back into the Netherlands’ team for their friendly away to fierce rivals Germany.

Sammy Ameobi is part of the England Under-21 squad which travelled to Belgium for tonight’s European Championship qualifier, while Davide Santon and Tamas Kadar could be on opposing sides as Italy’s Under-21s entertain Hungary tomorrow.
