The Toon reserves beat Ashington 2-0 in the Northumberland Senior Cup thanks to two goals from Brad Inman.

The Northern League outfit fought to the end in driving rain, but Newcastle were too strong.

On 57 minutes though, Newcastle unlocked the Ashington defence with a special moment for Inman as he rifled in with his right foot from outside the box, an effort that flew into the net from 20 yards after the Colliers failed to clear a corner.

With 15 minutes to go Inman put the lid on it for Newcastle when he fired in another powerful goal from long range to round off a good night for Willie Donachie’s second string.
