Toon Offer Leon Best In Striker Transfer
Although Leon Best wants to stay on Tyneside, Newcastle have offered him to Reading as part of a deal to bring highly-rated striker Shane Long to St James' Park. Reading have received bids for Long, but insist they have fallen well short of their valuation. A number of offers have been put to the Royals, but the Republic of Ireland international is valued at £10million. Newcastle are known to be among those chasing Long's signature, and are understood to have put a cash-plus-Leon Best package on the table. However, that would not appear to be enough to tempt Reading into a sale.
