Relegation-threatened Bolton were beaten 3-0 at home by Fulham on Saturday, and United are odds-on favourites to make it five wins in a row.

However, Bolton midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker blamed ‘lethargy’ for that defeat and Champions League chasing Newcastle should take note that "sure three-point results" can bite you in the arse.

Mike Williamson: “You can’t take any team lightly.

“They’re scrapping for their lives, and it’s going to be tough.

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Owen Coyle. He’s a good, footballing manager, and we’ll just recover and go again.”

Nigel Reo-Coker: “We let ourselves down.

“But that doesn’t mean we are going to continue in the same vein.

“However, we didn’t give a true account of ourselves. We have been focussed and determined to get ourselves out of the situation we are in.

“Events of the past three weeks have helped us to get together as a group. But against Fulham we were lethargic. I have played football for many years and I have experienced games like that before.

“You could see from the start we lacked that bit of spark. That little bit of belief.

“It has put more pressure on the game at Newcastle but let this be a wake-up call to us.”
