England Under-17 international striker Adam Campbell is said to be set to get his chance to impress Alan Pardew against Cardiff City today.

The North Shields-born teenager is in the squad.

Campbell only played a handful of games for the reserves but, along with rookie defender Remie Streete, is regarded as a hot prospect for the future on Tyneside.

Campbell won the MVP award in the Manchester United Premier Cup World Finals in the summer of 2010, an award won by both Carlos Tevez and Fernando Torres in the past.

He is another product of Wallsend Boys Club and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Alan Shearer and Peter Beardsley by shining on the big stage at St James’ Park.

Adam Campbell: “It is surreal and a dream come true.

“Hopefully, I can keep on pressing and get my first-team appearance. I have been at the Academy nine seasons now.”
