Mark Viduka has been challenged to fire Newcastle United to safety despite looking almost certain to quit St James' Park in the summer.[LNB] The big Australian striker has endured an injury interrupted time in the North East and it seems highly unlikely he will be offered fresh terms when his contract expires in the summer.[LNB]Viduka has stated a desire to play one more season at Newcastle and caretaker boss Chris Hughton has urged the fit again front man to prove his class between now and the season's close, in securing the club's top flight status.[LNB]Achilles and groin problems have sidelined the player for the vast majority of the campaign but he is now ready to play his part having enjoyed a cameo in the club's win at West Brom last time out.[LNB]"Mark has a very big role to play for us," Hughton said in the Newcastle Chronicle.[LNB]"He's a big name player. We're aware of how many games we've got left this season. [LNB]"For every player, they know how important it's going to be."[LNB]
