Newcastle's new foreign legion have all bought properties in the area within 24 hours of signing up. Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Sylvain Marveaux have all snapped up houses in the Newcastle area. Taking it as a sign of their commitment to the cause, the club also believe it will prevent any major upheaval when they return to the North East for pre-season training on July 4. Newcastle will lay on English lessons for Cabaye, who is the only one of the trio who doesn’t boast fluent language skills. Assistant boss John Carver: “What’s helped is that we’ve signed them on long-term contracts. “The players are going to adjust their lifestyles and buy properties so they can settle in Newcastle. That can only help them on the field. “When players come here and buy properties, it shows their intentions. These players want to play for this club. “You think back to Olivier Bernard and Laurent Robert, two French lads who played here. “Ollie still lives in the region –he’s settled here. He loves the area because of the people, and Laurent still comes back to visit.”
