Now reports in the Daily Mirror suggest Pardew is set to make a summer bid for the 22-year old.
Sigurdsson is currently on a season long loan at Swansea from German outfit Hoffenheim, and even though he has impressed with his tally of 7 goals and 2 assists in 15 appearances, the club may not be able to seal a permanent transfer with the fee of £8m being touted.
Pardew is hoping to hang onto Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote, but Sigurdsson’s calibre is in keeping standards high at the club.
