Toon Confirm PSV Date!
The club have confirmed the first anniversary of Sir Bobby Robson's death will be marked by a match between two of his former clubs - Newcastle United and PSV. The two clubs will meet for the pre-season friendly at St James’ Park on July 31, a year to the day since Sir Bobby lost his battle with cancer. Sir Bobby first joined PSV in 1990, the same year he led England to the World Cup semi-finals against West Germany, during Italia ‘90. The much-loved boss tasted success in his first two seasons, securing Dutch league titles in both 1990–91 and 1991–92. Sir Bobby’s connection with the club saw him return to PSV in 1998 for a time, before he left to become manager of Newcastle, the following year.
