Tiote, Cisse, Sissoko And Anita To Boycott World Cup?

24 October 2013 22:18
According to the Mirror, Man City star Yaya Toure has warned that black players could boycott the 2018 World Cup.

The greatest competition in world football ... a boycott?

Could it happen?

How come Toure speaks for every black player in the world - is he their new spokesman - or full of shit?

Africa will have at least five teams at the 2018 Finals and the Ivory Coast star claims black players need to be assured they will not be racially abused.

Not just African nations, it could involve Newcastle's Moussa Sissoko,    Vurnon Anita, and even Gael Bigirimana and Sammy Ameobi.

Yaya Toure: “Of course it involves all black players.

“It’s very important. Otherwise it we are not confident coming to the World Cup in Russia, we don’t come.

“Of course, it’s a problem here, it happens all the time. I played in Ukraine, which was quite good, but they said some things as well.

“We have come here and it is the same again. I don’t know why it happens in football.

"I don’t know why you don’t get something like this in rugby or handball or any other sport, it’s just football.”

The Kick It Out statement: “Things are not perfect in this country.

“But this type of abuse is a depressing throwback and raises questions around the suitability of Russia as World Cup hosts.”

Yet CSKA have denied any reports that Yaya Toure was racially abused in the Champions League clash and argue that the Ivory Coast midfielder exaggerated claims.

In a fresh twist to the saga, Moscow’s deputy media manager Michael Sanadze told Sky Sports News: "There is no subject to discuss. Nothing special happened.

"There was a lot of noise in the stadium. Nobody else, other than Yaya Toure, heard anything. The only trouble that has come about was because Yaya Toure heard something."

Ivory Coast teammate and CSKA player Seydou Doumbia also sparked fury by claiming that Toure was "clearly exaggerating."

MAGPIES IN EUROPE -

HARVEY TO PARDEW

The new version of "Magpies In Europe" will be launched next week.

The official new title is "Magpies In Europe - Harvey To Pardew" and is an up-dated version of "From Antwerp To Zurich" - which includes the 14 Europa League fixtures we played last season.

The 280-page book features match reports from the 134 European matches Newcastle United have played, starting with the memorable 4-0 win over Feyenoord in 1968 on our European debut.

Included are stats and the figures you would expect, but also each away fixture has the remarkable experiences of individuals who travelled to watch the matches.

It is a fascinating history that every Newcastle United fan will enjoy.
