Tigers troubled by tryless run

Leicester's head coach Richard Cockerill admitted his side's record tryless sequence is becoming a "bugbear" for his players.[LNB] The Tigers failed to cross the opposition line for the third successive game this season in beating Newcastle 15-6 at Welford Road and have now gone a club record four hours and 19 minutes of league rugby since they scored a try.[LNB] "We have got nine points from three games so there are teams in worse positions than us," Cockerill said.[LNB] "We have got to ride the storm and work on our accuracy. We have some new guys in the side and a few injuries at the moment as well.[LNB] "Not scoring tries is a bugbear for all of us. We like to score tries and last season we were the second-highest try-scorers in the competition which might surprise a few people. So we have got a little bit of time to go yet."[LNB] Newcastle's defeat was their first of the season but their director of rugby Steve Bates was proud of his side's performance.[LNB] "I am disappointed that we didn't squeeze a result but I am really proud of the performance," Bates said.[LNB] "It was a really great team performance, we were under a lot of pressure at times but I thought the guys fought really well together. That is something we can build on and develop over the next couple of months.[LNB] "This was a massive occasion for Leicester with the opening of the new stand and I sure the whole thing added to the way Leicester viewed the game.[LNB] "I think if we had a little bit more experience and composure we might have made it very close at the end."
