Tigers and Toon want Harewood

Skysports.com understands Hull City and Newcastle United are rivals to sign Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood on loan. Hull are desperate for attacking options and spent the summer attempting to secure reinforcements to avoid a repeat of last season's Premier League relegation battle. Manager Phil Brown failed in moves for Fraizer Campbell and Bobby Zamora, while Michael Owen was also a target before he joined Manchester United. Newcastle are also eager for experienced forwards as they aim to earn Championship promotion at the first attempt after dropping from the top flight in 2008/09. Harewood has been identified as a target by both clubs as the 30-year-old has fallen behind the likes of John Carew and Gabriel Agbonlahor at Villa Park. The former Nottingham Forest and West Ham United player spent part of last season on loan at Wolves and could again be set to leave Villa on a temporary basis.
