This Is What Gets Up Alan Shearer's Nose

Alan Shearer hates it when Premiership managers ...

... say players have "worked hard".

The GOALden Boy says "hard work should be a given", and that is why Hatem Ben Arfa should not be in Alan Pardew's team because "doesn't graft hard enough".

Shearer went public on MOTD on Sunday saying the Frenchman doesn't deserve to be in the Newcastle United team.

The French players, and Ben Arfa in particular, don't take too kindly to criticism, so it will be interesting to see how he bounces back.

Ben Arfa has been an unused substitute in Newcastle United’s last two games as Pardew’s side defeated Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 and 1-0 respectively.

Alan Shearer: “I understand because he is not going to give you 100 per cent work-rate and when you go to Tottenham and play Chelsea, you understand you are not going to have as much possession as those guys and you have got to have 11 guys who are going to work very, very hard for you.

“He won’t work hard for you.

“He will give you other things when you are playing the lesser teams and he will produce fantastic finishes and goals and passes, but work-rate is not what you can associate with him.

“You should never praise anyone for hard work because it should be a given.

“He doesn’t work as hard as others but he has got other skills that others haven’t.”
