Again, Newcastle were sluggish from the first whistle, and West Ham – whose first-half goal came from former St James’s Park favourite Kevin Nolan – were able to frustrate them.
Alan Pardew: “We need some moments that get our crowd on our side.
“We didn’t do ourselves any favours with the crowd and the atmosphere.
"It was only in the second half when we had a really great spell, and should have scored.
“Their endeavour and work-rate kept the scoresheet goalless.”
