The WORST World Cup EVER!

Has this been the WORST World Cup EVER? In my opion - having watched them all since 1966 - I would say beyond any doubt YES! Worst of the last five decades at least. 56 games have been played and we have eight left, and I cannot wait for the finish. Don't put all the blame on England's door for four poor performances, they only continued where the likes of France and Italy left off. Every World Cup throws up its superstar - Pele, Eusabio, Muller, Cruyff, Maradonna, Rossi, Socrates, Zidane, Gazza, etc. But who have we had this campaign? Messi (who hasn't found the net yet) is probably the guy, but that just about says it all - 21 shots - no goals. We have seen plenty of flops - Rooney, Torres, Ronaldo, Anelka, Drogba, etc. What about the atmosphere? My God has there ever been a worse atmosphere? No chanting, no singing, no encouragement ... just 10,000 thickos blowing their one note trumpets. As the English fan commented after our game with USA: "It gets boring hearing it before the kick-off - it gets tedious five minutes into the game - by the end of 90 minutes you want to get as far away from the ground as you can." That is not atmosphere - that is a painful one-note noise. 56 games and how many classics have we seen? Have we seen ANY? Probably four good games; two decent; 50 utter crap! Then we have had the TV pundits: Adrian "Auto-cue" Chiles; Alan "I agree with Hansen, Gary and everyone else" Shearer; and Edgar "Cannot understand a word" Davids. The two best quotes of the competition so far: Chris Coleman (after an African player had put two passes out of play then fell over the ball): "Of course he's a good player. He's in the World Cup isn't he. They are all good players". Jim Beglin (after a Japan penalty rattled off the crossbar): "It was MILES wide!"
