The TRUTH Behind Michael Owen's Claims

14 October 2012 12:20
Former Newcastle striker Michael Owen told reporters in the summer there was a list of Premiership clubs interested in offering him a contract.

Now then ... we all knew about Stoke City, because their gaffa made it public ... but what about the Liverpool and Everton rumours that was kicked about Merseyside?

David Moyes was quick to say the stories were BOLLOX, and Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers would hear no talk of it "he is NOT coming to Anfield".

Today we hear the rumours were started by Owen himself - because he ASKED Liverpool to take him.

If Michael Owen had his way after leaving Manchester United he would be at Anfield ... so this shit he said "Stoke was always going to be the club I was going to sign for" ... is true enough.

Because no other club was interested in him!

The former England international told 'Tubes' on Sky's Soccer AM programme that he approached Liverpool about the idea of returning to the club and was refused a second Anfield chance by Brendan Rodgers.

Owen went on to join Stoke City but has already experienced fitness issues there.

Michael Owen doesn't have the best reputation amongst Liverpool supporters who weren't happy with his move to Real Madrid ... and as for his unpopularity at St James' Park ... the less said the better.
