Danny Simpson: “Look at his stats and he’s up there with the best.
“He’s been given the number nine shirt and just embraced it. The goals have been fantastic as well.
“I really thought that second one was over. I’ll have to watch it again.
“It’s nine in eight and to come into the Premier League, into a team that was doing well, mid-way through the season and hit the form that he is shows he’s top class.
“I’ve heard people say he is a bit like Andy Cole, who was one of the players I grew up watching. I can definitely see the similarities with Coley, he even runs like him!
“Coley seemed to score the harder chances and so does Papiss.
“I’m sure he’d be proud to hear people saying he’s like Andy Cole. But I’m convinced people will be talking about Papiss in the same way eventually, he’s that good. I’m sure people will be speaking about him for a long, long time.
“With ten games to go the manager said the season starts now.
“We’ve got four wins on the bounce and we’re keeping clean sheets so it couldn’t have gone any better.
“We’ve looked solid at the back and dangerous going forward. We’ve been good through the season but this is the best spell and the best we’ve looked.
“We feel strong and as if we’re going to win. With Papiss scoring goals like that, he’s in banging form. Then there’s Demba and everyone knows the threat he is. Everyone is working because we want to finish the season well.
“You never know in football. We’ve come into form just at the right time.”
