The Firing Line: West Ham boss Avram Grant continues to top our list for the chop
To be fair to West Ham's co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan, they are doing everything they can to avoid sacking Avram Grant - even sacking his assistant first.[LNB]But another dire defeat at Liverpool saw West Ham go 3-0 down inside 40 minutes and even prompted some Hammers fans to walk-out before half-time, no mean feat given their loyal support.[LNB]Still Avram stays but for how much longer? The fans are a patient bunch at Upton Park but defeat in the huge game against Wigan will surely be the last straw for them.[LNB] You lot are going one way: Grant has just one league win in 14 at West Ham[LNB]Elsewhere Carlo Ancelotti jet propels up the order in the biggest move of the season, as recent developments surrounding the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge have got everyone in a twist. Lose that one and Wigan are certain to be in for season long scrap against the drop. Hughton hasn't got a response from his side since the win at Arsenal. Only Fabricio Coloccini has reacted and that was with his elbow. DOWN TWO[LNB][LNB]9WestBromwich - Roberto Di Matteo Like Newcastle, it's all gone wrong for Di Matteo after defeating Arsenal after West Brom crashed to a heavy home defeat against Stoke. Just two points off the drop and just one point in 15. UP TWO[LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB]10Fulham - Mark Hughes Once in charge of the only cottage in the world to be a fortress, only for Manchester City to come down and give them a footballing lesson. Perilously close to the drop, Birmingham next. UP ONE[LNB][LNB]11Blackburn- Sam Allardyce Impressed the new owners with a well taken win against Villa. Sitting mid-table, his only concern right now is possibly seeing Ewood Park's name changed to the Venky's stadium. DOWN THREE[LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB]12Blackpool - Ian Holloway Another win will see him pass the halfway mark on the road to the magic 40 points. Top season so far and Holloway seems to be backing down on leaving by giving his chairman the final say. DOWN THREE[LNB][LNB][LNB] 13Sunderland- Steve BruceMissed a great chance to go into the top six after an entertaining draw against Everton. His next big test is who to select in attack. Asamoah Gyan or Darren Bent? Or both? Wolves away next. DOWN ONE[LNB][LNB]14Aston Villa - Gerard Houllier Will be fuming at his side's lack of discipline that led to their defeat at the Venky's Sta...Ewood Park. But a young side is bound to make mistakes and it's all part of the learning curve. UP ONE[LNB][LNB]15Stoke City - Tony Pulis Fantastic result to win 3-0 at West Brom and although Pulis' side don't play total football, it's effective as they sit just three points off a place in Europe after a third consecutive win. DOWN TWO[LNB][LNB]16Bolton - Owen Coyle Thumping 5-1 win over Newcastle sees the Bolton bandwagon keep on rolling. Johan Elmander seems to get better every week under Coyle and a push for Europe is a realistic target. DOWN TWO[LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB]17Everton - David Moyes You just wonder how good Everton could be if Moyes could spend big on a striker. Tim Cahill grabs goals from midfield but a lack of strikes up front is harming the Toffees' season. DOWN ONE[LNB][LNB][LNB]18Tottenham- Harry RedknappShowed balls of steel to gamble with an attacking formation against Arsenal in the second-half, but as ever Redknapp is vindicated. All looking good after Champions League progression. DOWN ONE[LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB]19Arsenal- Arsene Wenger Hugely frustrating week. Lost his bottle (and the lid) in the north London derby and crashed to defeat in Braga with the double blow of losing his captain. Villa (and Robert Pires) next.
