Terry Talks About That Battle At St James'' Park

Chelsea''s John Terry is desperate to be restored to his position at centre-back but is cute enough not to publicly antagonise interim manager Rafael Benitez.

The pair had a stand-up argument after Newcastle played the Londoners a couple of weeks ago at St James'' Park ... but obviously the ex-England skipper is quick to nip it in the bud.

But - no matter he says (or who he blames for spilling the beans) - it happened!

The 32-year-old strongly refuted the allegation.

John Terry: “There is no rift, 100 per cent.

“There was an article that was complete rubbish and lazy journalism, and it’s disappointing really.

"The team spirit is great here, and no one can really affect that – we’ve always had a good mentality within the squad.

"And that will always remain the same.”

Terry had been out of action with a knee injury for nearly four months but returned to the side that beat League One Brentford 4-0 on Sunday.
