Newcastle's caretaker-manager Chris Hughton has challenged teenage striker Nile Ranger to force his way into the senior side this season. The 18-year-old scored in Saturday's 3-0 friendly victory over Shamrock Rovers in Dublin to underline his emergence from the ranks. Hughton told the club's official website: "Nile has got a real chance and there's an awful lot of potential there. "He's got pace and power and is a terrific athlete. He's also got tremendous bravery, and it's things like that you can't teach. "He needs to work on other aspects of his game, but with the right attitude and application, that will come."
