Teenage kicks for Toon

Newcastle's crop of emerging youngsters could help the club fight its way back from the pain of relegation, according to Academy director Richard Money. Newcastle currently have no manager and are facing the prospect of having to offload many of their highest earners even after the departures of the likes of Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Claudio Cacapa when their contracts expire at midnight on Tuesday. But with Nile Ranger, Shane Ferguson and Brad Inman, Tamas Kadar and Kazenga LuaLua waiting in the wings, Money believes there is cause for optimism even if prospective new owners cannot provide significant finance for team rebuilding. He told the Journal: "It is obviously difficult at this time because there is no manager and no owners at the club, and it depends on what the investment policy is. "But the thing that we have got at this club is some very good talent aged between 17 and 19 and given the chance, I believe they will prove they are good enough. "The likes of Ranger, Ferguson, Brad Inman - they are playing international football which suggests that they will be able to push on very quickly next season, and it obviously helps those players that we are in the Championship next season."
