Taylor - Time to take risks
Steven Taylor believes a lack of urgency is to blame for Newcastle's continued failings this season.
The Magpies find themselves embedded in the Premier League relegation battle with nine games remaining.
They only occupy a standing outside the bottom courtesy of goal difference and are running out of time in which to drag themselves to safety.
However, Taylor insists their fate is in their own hands and has called on his team-mates to start grabbing games by the scruff of the neck.
He feels that three points should have been taken from a weekend trip to Hull City, rather than being forced to settle for a 1-1 draw, and feels too many games have passed the club by this term.
"We're always waiting to see what happens," Taylor told the Chronicle.
"In the first half, especially away from home, we always seem to wait for something to happen.
"When they (Hull) scored the goal, that was the time we all had to raise ourselves.
"Obviously, the fans weren't happy, and they had every right not to be.
"We got the goal in the last 10 minutes of the first half, and that's how we should be playing.
"Then we took the game to them.
"We should be doing that all season, not just now.
"We've got to start taking risks if we're going to start getting results.
"We're going to have to start getting in the box and having a few shots
outside the box.
"The sides were are playing against aren't afraid to have a shot and follow up."
