Taylor Knows It's Going To Be A Tough Winter!

It's starting to sound like a scratched record - Newcastle Utd players pleading for vocal support from the Toon Army.

The comments from the players following the West Ham defeat were - copied, cut and pasted - onto Monday's newspapers and websites.

The same old stories, but the Toon fans KNOW we face a tough winter.

Steven Taylor has asked Newcastle's fans to keep the faith despite the Magpies' disappointing start to the season.

Alan Pardew's side were booed off the pitch by some fans on Saturday after defeat to Swansea made it just one win in seven games for Newcastle – a stark contrast to their form of last season.

Steven Taylor: "If the fans stick behind us, we will get it right.

"Hopefully, that'll start on Thursday [against Maritimo in the Europa League]. We've got key players out injured but they're coming back.

"This is a fantastic place - the lads absolutely love playing here - and teams have got to hate playing here.

"The gaffer told us not to beat ourselves up over the Swansea defeat.

"The work ethic we had was very good but we couldn't turn our chances into goals. We just didn't take them.

"The game was a bit open. We've got to make sure [St James Park] is a fortress.

"We won everything in the first half - we bossed it - and that's how it should have been throughout the game.

"We'll keep plugging away. We'll get it right - it's just a matter of time. I thought we did well but conceded two sloppy goals.

"Nothing went for us - there were shots going in left, right and centre. Hopefully, it'll kick in and we'll get back to winning ways."
