Taylor calls for belief

Steven Taylor insists Newcastle can silence their critics this weekend and secure Premier League survival. The Magpies head into a make-or-break clash with Aston Villa on Sunday knowing their top flight status hangs in the balance. Defeat at Villa Park would condemn the North East club to second tier football next season, while even victory may not be enough if results elsewhere conspire to go against them. Taylor, though, remains optimistic ahead of the game and insists Alan Shearer's side can pull off a miraculous escape act. He said: "There is no reason why we can't do it. "Some people think it's not possible - they can think whatever they want. Determined "We are the ones who can make the difference, and no matter who plays, they will give it everything in the tank. "We have beaten them [Villa] already this season, so with the right team belief, like we showed against Middlesbrough, we will be okay." Taylor is also of the belief that Manchester United and Chelsea can do them a favour against two of their relegation rivals. Reports have suggested that both clubs will take things easy on the final day, against Hull City and Sunderland respectively, as they look to rotate their squads, but Newcastle are hoping that will not be the case. "No matter what teams Chelsea and Man United play, they will want to win. They want to finish the season in style," added Taylor. "Like all footballers, they will want to win. No matter if you are just coming through the ranks or an experienced pro, you win for pride."
