Taylor At The Crossroads - And He Knows It!

26 July 2012 13:32
Steven Taylor is expected to make his long-awaited comeback on Saturday evening as he tries to show Alan Pardew he still has a Newcastle United future.

Taylor will get a 45-minute run-out against Olympiacos in United’s opening game in the XII Trofeo Guadiana – handing him his first competitive football for seven months.

The defender played no part in the games in Germany and Austria ... and we all know the injury-plagued defender has a lot to prove this trip.

He will jet out to the Algarve today knowing Pardew has tabled a bid for Brazilian central defender Douglas, and it is rumoured Newcastle are getting Taylor fit to move him on.

United are set to snap up 19-year-old Australian defender Good later today, but progress on deal for priority target Mathieu Debuchy, could be over.

Newcastle have identified an alternative right-back in case they fail to reach an agreement with Lille for Debuchy but the France international has made it clear he wants to come to Tyneside.
