Taff Chairman Blocks Toon Move

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has told Neil Taylor he has turned down Newcastle's bid because the player won't get a game while Jose Enrique is at the club. The Magpies were given permission to speak to the left-back after activating a £1m clause in his contract. The player is understood to have agreed a five-year deal but Swansea are holding out for more money, arguing that Newcastle’s £1.1m bid does not automatically entitle them to buy Taylor. The Swans may settle for £2m, but are waiting for the next move in a game of brinkmanship. Huw Jenkins: “I believe the time is wrong for him to move on at the moment. “You’d think he’s got more chance of playing games in the Premier League for us than trying to compete for a place at Newcastle. “I wouldn’t deprive any player of moving on if he felt it was the right time for the club and the player, that’s part and parcel of the game these days. “He’s such a young lad though and it’s about playing games.”
