Sunderland v Blackburn - team news

22 August 2009 14:55
STEED MALBRANQUE has returned to the Sunderland team for this afternoon's visit of Blackburn Rovers. The creative midfielder has shrugged off an ankle problem which kept him out of last Tuesday's defeat to Chelsea, meaning youngster Jordan Henderson drops to the bench. That is the only change for Sunderland, with Lee Cattermole deemed fit to start in midfield despite doubts surrounding a back complaint. Blackburn have not included full-back Stephen Warnock in their squad, fuelling suggestions that he might be on the move to Aston Villa. SUNDERLAND (4-4-2): Fulop; Bardsley, Ferdinand, Collins, McCartney; Malbranque, Cana, Cattermole, Richardson; Jones, Bent. Subs: Gordon, Nosworthy, Campbell, Henderson, Leadbitter, Reid, Healy. BLACKBURN (4-4-2): Robinson; Jacobsen, Samba, Nelsen, Givet; Pedersen, Andrews, Nzonzi, Diouf; Roberts, Di Santo. Subs: Brown, Emerton, McCarthy, Grella, Olsson, Kalinic, Hoilett.
