Steve Stone thrown a new role by Alan Pardew at Newcastle

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew wants to make further changes to his staff after promoting former England winger Steve Stone. [LNB]Stone, who was Chris Hughton's right-hand man for the last six weeks of his reign, becomes first-team coach at St James' Park. [LNB] Promotion: Steve Stone has been pulled up the ranks at Newcastle[LNB]Willie Donachie moves from the academy to become development coach and Andy Woodman has joined as goalkeeping coach from Charlton to replace Paul Barron, who was sacked with Hughton last week. Former England forward Peter Beardsley has kept his job as reserve-team coach. [LNB]Pardewsaid: 'I am delighted to bring Steve, Willie and Alan on board and am sure they will do a tremendous job for the club. Keeping Peter with the reserves is important too as he has done a terrific job with the youngerlads this season.'[LNB]After failing to land Peter Grant as his assistant from Birmingham, Pardew is still hoping to appoint Ray Lewington as his No 2. [LNB]Pardew has also set his sights on former England left back Chris Powell, who is working with Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester.
