Stephen Ireland's Newcastle debut is in doubt

Stephen Ireland has suffered a setback on his comeback from injury and is doubtful for his Newcastle debut on Saturday.[LNB]The on-loan Aston Villa midfielder, recovering from the knee injury which has delayed his first appearance for Alan Pardew, was hurt in training earlier today and will have a test before the Newcastle manager decides whether he is fit to face Everton.[LNB]Pardew revealed Ireland has suffered a similar injury to Joey Barton, who will also be at Newcastle's training ground early tomorrow morning in a bid to be fit to face Everton at St James' Park.[LNB] Kneesy does it: Injury has halted Ireland's hopes of debuting for Newcastle[LNB]Pardew said: 'Stephen has come back and the injury he had when he arrived here has cleared up but he may have a slight thigh strain which rules him out of Saturday.
