Spurs seal Bassong deal

// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Sebastien Bassong from Newcastle.[LNB] As revealed by Sky Sports News earlier on Thursday Tottenham had agreed a fee in the region of £8million with Newcastle for Bassong.[LNB]Bassong has now passed a medical and agreed personal terms to tie up his switch to White Hart Lane.[LNB]Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was keen to add to his defensive options with Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Dawson and Ledley King all injury doubts for the start of the new season.[LNB]The 23-year-old was one of Newcastle's best performers last season despite their relegation from the Premier League.[LNB]A number of Premier League clubs had been linked with the Frenchman, but Spurs have won the race for his signature.[LNB]Bassong is suspended for the first two games of the new campaign after being sent-off at the back end of last season against Fulham.[LNB]
