It comes thick and fast.
We at NU-Mad use it as a tool. Upset the Mackems, Mancs, Scousers and whoever else ... and you've got a strike.
It's fun, but you have to be thick-skinned. We WANT them to answer back!
Death-threats? We get them from internet geeks monthly, if not weekly.
Obviously not from Mags, or even Mackems (they KNOW when we are fishing for a bite) ... it's usually the small clubs like Wigan, Bolton, and best of all - Celtic (they bite at EVERYTHING!).
You have to be able to TAKE it as well as GIVE it, and some cannot handle the abuse.
That brings us onto Newcastle United's Danny Simpson, who has become the latest footballer to get fed up with idiots sending him abuse on Twitter.
Now he says he's had enough of the whole thing.
Before yesterday's game he Tweeted to say he was going to give the social network a break but this morning said he was going to delete his account altogether following some of the messages he'd been receiving.
Twitter is increasingly becoming a part of football and last night Jack Wilshere used it to mock Newcastle's Tim Krul after the keeper had an argument with Robin van Persie.
Even former club mate Gary Neville couldn't talk Simpson around: "Stick with it. Words come and go. Don't block them just laugh and think they are thinking of you and not their own sad life."
Danny Simpson: "Na, time to delete this stuff. Never read so much shit in my life! I know what you're saying mate but I need a break away from it. Hurts to read that stuff when you try your best and work hard every day."
