Shola Could Go Against Pardew's Wishes
Alan Pardew says he will hold talks with Shola Ameobi before deciding whether the club will release him to play in Nigeria's friendly against Guatemala on February 9. Ameobi has been called up by Nigeria coach Samson Siasia for the game in Miami, Florida but he would travel between fixtures against Arsenal and Blackburn Rovers. With Andy Carroll struggling with injury, the last thing Pardew needs is a flight delay or an injury to another striker. Pardew said: "I haven't talked to Shola about it, but we'll discuss it." But Pardew won't have the last say in the matter because the date is a FIFA window and Nigeria can insist on having the player.
