Newcastle are interested in Finland striker Shefki Kuqi as a short term replacement for Andy Carroll. [LNB]Manager Alan Pardew has been forced to explore all possibilities after running out of time to bring in a striker on transfer deadline day then having his squad depleted further by Shola Ameobi fracturing a cheekbone against Fulham. Ameobi had surgery on Tuesday and will be ruled out until April. [LNB] Surprise move: Pardew has lined up Kuqi as a potential replacement for Carroll [LNB]Former Middlesbrough striker Jeremie Aliadiere held talks with the club on Monday and Brazilian striker Ewerthon has been discussed but 6ft 2ins target man Kuqi is also under consideration. [LNB]The 34-year-old is not in the Finland squad for their international with Belgium as he is keen to sort out his future. [LNB]Not so handy Andy: Carroll joined Liverpool on deadline-day [LNB]He is a free agent after cancelling his contract with Swansea by mutual consent and has been courted by several Championship sides - but the prospect of a dream move to Newcastle will mean all offers will be shelved until Pardew makes his decision. [LNB]Kuqi, who is renowned for his bellyflop goal celebration, is vastly experienced and his physical presence could sway a deal in his favour. [LNB]Meanwhile, Newcastle full-back Danny Simpson revealed how Pardew lost his temper at half-time prior to their stunning comeback in the 4-4 draw with Arsenal. [LNB]Simpson said: 'We were a disgrace in the first half. The manager went mad at us, and he shouted at us. [LNB]'He told us that we needed to go out and show something for the fans who had stuck by us. We took it on board. That's credit to the team and you have to respect the manager for getting a reaction out of us.'[LNB]  'I felt sick': Newcastle fans tell of heartache at memorable comeback against Arsenal... because they left at half-timeOne step at a time: Newcastle fans given chance to sign up for 10-year season ticketAliadiere in talks with Newcastle over short-term move to solve striker crisisNewcastle United FC news from across the web  Explore more:People: Danny Simpson, Andy Carroll Places: Newcastle, Finland, Belgium
