Alan Shearer is ready to pull out of a deal to become Newcastle's manager as the club prepare this week to offload their high earners. Shearer has grown increasingly frustrated at the time it has taken for owner Mike Ashley to return a decision on his own demands and the funds that would be made available. He is expected to meet chairman Derek Llambias on Tuesday after returning from a short break in Portugal. For their part, Ashley and Llambias are believed to have reservations about whether Shearer's demands and transfer kitty expectations are realistic and whether he has the right experience. It is thought the club will now begin a fire sale of their highest earners. Mark Viduka and Michael Owen, who is interesting Everton and Aston Villa, are out of contract but Joey Barton, Alan Smith, Obafemi Martins and Damien Duff are other likely departures. Kevin Nolan is attracting interest from Hull while Sebastien Bassong is a target for neighbours Sunderland. Hertha Berlin are among a clutch of German clubs watching Newcastle's teenage winger Shane Ferguson. The 17-year-old came on as a substitute for Northern Ireland during their 3-0 friendly defeat by Italy on Saturday and was watched by four scouts from the Bundesliga. Ferguson is in his second year at Newcastle and has been offered athree year contract but has caught the eye of top flight clubs.
