Seagulls swoop to dump Magpies out of FA Cup 3:43pm Saturday 5th January 2013 in Newcastle United News By Richard Mason, Sports Writer/Sub-Editor NEWCASTLE UNITED crashed out of the FA Cup at the first time of asking with a disastrous defeat at Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion. Andrea Orlandi opened the scoring on 33 minutes, before Shola Ameobi saw red for a second bookable offence in the second half, while Will Hoskins put the gloss on victory with an 87th minute goal to send the 1,978 Magpies fans home disappointed for the second consecutive year after Newcastle tasted defeat at the Amex Stadium in last year's fourth round encounter. It was a patched-up Magpies XI, with Alan Pardew resting Papiss Cisse and choosing not to risk Fabricio Coloccini, and Newcastle were handed another slice of bad luck to see James Perch limp off at half-time with a knee injury. Paul Dummett, who was recalled from a loan at St Mirren this week, came on in the second half for Perch who is now a doubt for the Norwich City game next week. Pardew will also be without Ameobi whose tackle on David Lopez warranted a second yellow card, and is banned for one game.
