Scottish League Doomed To Fail Again!

28 June 2013 13:31
When I was a kid half the Newcastle squad was from north of the border. Bob Moncur, Jimmy Smith, Tommy Gibb, John McNamee, etc. But these days the Scottish League is not worth a second look.

What's gone wrong?

Who knows - who cares?

But the new structure is no different to the old!

Why can't 42 clubs play in two leagues? Why the four leagues with each club playing each other FOUR times a season ... at the least?

The fact remains - take away Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Inverness and Aberdeen - and you have nothing.

Too many football clubs - not enough fans.

Five towns and 42 clubs!

So what's gona change? NOWT ....

Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie believes the creation of the Scottish Professional Football League will allow the game north of the border to move forward in a positive way.

But how?

A single league set-up was finally rubber-stamped by all 42 clubs shortly before midnight after around 15 hours of talks at Hampden, which included a number of adjournments as lawyers mulled over the financial details.

The agreement finally sees the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League merge into one organisation, which will retain a 12-10-10-10 structure and will see the introduction of play-offs and a new financial redistribution model.

IN OTHER WORDS .... LET'S CARRY ON AS NORMAL!
