Brown was a target for former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton, but some hack has dug up the story this week.
The midfielder has been locked in talks with Celtic for some time, with both sides claiming to be closing on an agreement without putting anything in place.
However it seems the failure for Celtic to tie down their skipper has got rumours going ... probably circulating because his agent feels the time is right to highlight the situation.
Trust me on this one ... Alan Pardew has no interest in him.
The Toon boss sees the Scottish Premier League one of the poorest leagues in European football, and he has often made that known.
Scott Brown: "I've heard all the stuff about Newcastle but I haven't paid the slightest bit of attention to it.
"I'm captain of Celtic, why would I even think about going anywhere else?
"I have a hunger to win more trophies as Celtic captain so that I can look back at my time with the club and consider myself to have been a success.
"The club know how I feel and as long as the manager wants me here, then I don't see a problem in working out a deal."
