Scoop Of The Season And ITV Blow It!

You get the chance of the scoop of the season ... then the producer talks in your lug saying "that''s it - CUT!" What a bugger!

ITV''s coverage of the Champions League semi-final sparked bemusement on Twitter when they had to cut an interview of Jose Mourinho, seemingly on the brink of saying he would be walking out of Real Madrid, to cut to the adverts ahead of the evening news.

Mourinho, whose side had been eliminated 4-3 by Borussia Dortmund over two legs, despite a late rally at the Bernabeu, had been giving a short post-match interview to the channel.

As reporter Gabriel Clarke wrapped up the interview, offering his commiserations and saying "Maybe next season with Real?", Mourinho suddenly began to open up.

"Maybe not," the Portuguese said.

Asked where, he added: "I don''t know, but I want to be where people love me."

On the verge of Mourinho revealing more, however, Clarke had to cut him off, saying, "We''ll take that as England, we''ve got to go."

Fans on Twitter could scarcely believe that ITV had broken from the story at that point, and the channel started trending on the social network.

ITV is no stranger to controversy over its football coverage. Most famously, the channel infuriated viewers by missing the only goal of an FA Cup match between Everton and Liverpool in 2009 when it cut to an advert, and repeating the trick a year later by missing England''s opening goal at the 2010 World Cup for the same reasons.

Away from football - the year they covered the F1, they went down in sporting history for showing the adverts at the end of the first race ... MISSING THE FINAL LAP!
