Santon Doubt For Bolton

Davide Santon didn't appear for the second half of Wednesday's 3-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion after suffering a knee problem and Alan Pardew admits the injury is a concern.

Alan Pardew: “We’re not sure about Davide.

“But he’d just got into the team and got settled, and it’s disappointing.

“We’re disappointed he could be out of the side for Bolton – we can’t hide that.

“It was a game (v West Brom) we wanted to win and get ourselves 30 points before our Christmas dinner, but it didn’t happen.

“Their front two (Odemwingie and Shane Long) unsettled us a little bit, and made us edgy. We lost a bit of discipline in our shape, which was unusual for us.

“Having said that, we still did some marvellous stuff, and came back twice.

"Haris Vuckic in was handed a start in the absence of Yohan Cabaye, and he struck the post with a stunning first-half effort, and hit the side netting late in the game.

“They were two great hits – they were fantastic – and he can be proud of his debut.

“Haris had a fantastic debut as a 19-year-old. There were positives, but in all honesty, we should have done better.”
