Sammy Ameobi was the lone striker for a large part of the 1-0 loss to Chemnizter on Friday night before being joined by his older brother Shola in the closing stages.
Alan Pardew: “Sammy did really well.
“There were a lot of positives and his performance up top was one of them.
"We’re not too disappointed. It was a good start to pre-season for us and there were no silly tackles or injuries.
“There are a lot of players who will get there chance this year.
“Haris Vuckic and Mehdi Abeid are also in there. It’s a big season ahead.”
