Adkins, whose current side at rock bottom of the Premier League with just four points from their opening 10 games, has seen his odds in the next Blackpool boss market collapse.
By Tuesday lunchtime, his odds dropped from 66/1 to 5/2, after "a flood of money".
But Portsmouth chief Michael Appleton remained the favourite, however.
In a related price move, Adkins was also cut to be the first Premier League manager to leave his post. He replaces QPR's Mark Hughes as the favourite in that market.
